By Anirban Sinha Roy: Sri Lanka coach Chris Silverwood heaped reward on India for the way in which they dealt with strain regardless of shedding 4 wickets within the second ODI on the Eden Gardens on Thursday.

India beat Sri Lanka by 4 wickets within the 2nd ODI and secured the three-match collection 2-0 in Kolkata.

“Credits to Indian side way they hold pressure. We (Sri Lanka) play spin well, but in this match we did not,” Silverwood mentioned within the post-match press convention.

Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav shared six wickets to bundle out Sri Lanka for a below-par complete of 215 inside 40 overs. In reply, India misplaced 4 wickets early on. Sri Lanka troubled India’s top-order, decreasing them to 62/3 earlier than KL Rahul stepped as much as see off the storm and took India house.

Silverwood conceded that his crew didn’t do effectively with the bat.

“We didn’t do well. Obviously, we need to do better with bat. We can’t keep losing wickets. Senior players need to play a part,” he mentioned. “It’s bit fair that India has done good after 4 wickets fell. If we got couple of wickets before it will be good for us. We need to maintain that pressure.”

Talking about Rahul’s composed innings of 64 not out, Silverwood mentioned the Indian did effectively. The Sri Lanka coach added that his crew must work on “some things” to win the third and closing match on January 15.

“KL Rahul did good. Yes, obviously we need to make sure we need to have positive scores and we need to learn the lessons for the next match. So, we need to work on some things to win the next game,” Silverwood mentioned.
