Chelsea’s Reece James has been sidelined for as much as a month after sustaining a recurrence of a knee harm. He was substituted in the course of the Premier League 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

By India Today Web Desk: Chelsea defender Reece James will stay on the sidelines for as much as a month after sustaining a recurrence of a knee harm within the Premier League 2-0 win over Bournemouth.

The 23-year-old James, who missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup owing to his long-term harm, was diminished to tears when he was substituted after spending 53 minutes at Stamford Bridge.

“Scan results have regrettably confirmed a setback for the 23-year-old, with Reece now set to be ruled out for up to a month,” Chelsea stated in a press release on Wednesday.

James took to Twitter and stated that 2022 “has been the toughest year to date” for him.

“Just want to thank you all for the support, none of you go unnoticed. It has naturally affected me mentally. I am currently just trying to deal with the cards I have been dealt. I hope your end of year is filled with peace, joy and happiness,” he added.

James initially suffered a knee drawback in October in the course of the Champions League match towards AC Milan.

There had been predictions that James would want an eight-week layoff to get match for the latter phases of the World Cup, however England coach Gareth Southgate determined towards it in November.

The Chelsea defender admitted to being “devastated” in the course of the England’s World Cup squad announcement, having worn a knee brace for a month in an effort to hurry up his restoration.

Chelsea, who’re positioned eighth, will subsequent play towards Nottingham Forest in a Premier League match on New Year’s Day.
