By India Today Web Desk: Former India batter Aakash Chopra has questioned India’s tactical plan towards New Zealand. The Men in Blue misplaced the primary T20I of the three-match sequence by 21 runs on the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi.

Speaking on his Youtube channel after the match, Chopra questioned the choice of Hardik Pandya bowling the primary over, saying that Arshdeep Singh ought to’ve opened the bowling for India.

“We thought Finn Allen was a walking wicket, that you will dismiss him easily, but that did not happen. Why was Hardik Pandya bowling the first over? I feel Arshdeep should have bowled the first over,” said Chopra.

He said that Arshdeep has not been in good form lately, while also lauding Finn Allen for his attacking play in the very first over.

“Allen hit three fours within the first over. When you hit three fours, your confidence grows rather a lot. Then you aren’t afraid of anybody and also you say that you’ll hit. Arshdeep isn’t wanting in that good kind, that is the opposite a part of the story,” Chopra added.

He went on to say that India launched Shivam Mavi very late within the recreation, including that Washington Sundar is a real all-rounder and was completely excellent.

“After that, the way the bowling was rotated. They got Shivam Mavi extremely late. I know the ball was turning a little but he could have been brought in slightly earlier. Hardik bowled three overs for 33 runs. Washington (Sundar) was absolutely outstanding. Washi Sundar is actually a genuine all-rounder,” said Chopra.

Chopra said Arshdeep is proving slightly expensive towards the end of the innings despite that being his strength, adding that even Umran Malik was expensive in Ranchi.

“The 27 runs that have been conceded within the final over, together with a no-ball off the primary ball, 27 runs are rather a lot. Arshdeep is proving barely costly in direction of the top of the innings though it was all the time the man’s power. It is one thing that we must be speaking about. Umran Malik did not get a lot bowling and no matter he bought, he was hit for boundaries,” Chopra added.
