Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel said that we have done no favour to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes by increasing the percentage of reservation, rather we have given them the rights bestowed on them by the Constitution. Chief Minister said that total percentage of reservation provided in Chhattisgarh to various communities has now reached 82%. Chhattisgarh has become the first state to provide highest percentage of reservation.

This decision will empower the deprived sections of the society. He said that by increasing the percentage of reservation, our government has realized the dream of Baba Sahab Ambedkar and BP Mandal. Mr. Baghel today unveiled development works worth nearly Rs 102crore at Dussehra Maidan of Balodabazar district headquarters and after that he addressed the ‘Abhinandan Aabhaar Samaroh’ held there as Chief Guest of the occasion. Chhattisgarhiya Sarva Samaj Mahasangh expressed gratitude to Chief Minister for increasing the reservation limit for OBC category from 14% to 27% and that for SC from 12% to 13%, and felicitated him. Chief Minister said that currently, as per Census 2011, SC population is 13% of the total population of the state. Chief Minister said that in year 2021, the percentage of reservation provided would be directly proportional to the percentage of SC population in state. He said that following the guidelines of the Constitution, we have provide 10% reservation to poor families of general category as well. On the occasion, Health and Family Welfare Minister and Minister-in-charge of the district Mr. TS Singhdeo, Urban Administration and Development Minister Dr Shiv Dahariya, MLA Ms Shakuntala Sahu, MLA Mr. Chandradev Rai, MLA Mr. Pramod Sharma, Municipal Council Chairman Mr. Vikram Patel, MP Mr. Sohan Potai, Ex-MLA Mr. Janakram Verma, and a large number of community heads and office-bearers were also present.

Chief Minister said in his addressed to the general assembly that today, the biggest challenge before Chhattisgarh is not naxalism but malnutrition. Today 37.5% children in state are suffering from malnutrition and 41.5% women are suffering from anemia. To eradicate these problems, we have decided to launch a state-wide campaign – Suposhit Chhattisgarh Abhiyan on October 2, birth anniversary of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi. Chief Minister said that in last eight months we have realized the dream of our ancestors. He said that the decision to procure paddy at Rs 2500 per quintal was not taken in the backdrop of election. We would continue to procure paddy at the rate of Rs 2500 per quintal this year and in future as well. Chief Minister said that this government belongs to the farmers and hence, they should sell their own paddy at their own ‘patta’, instead of giving it to broker or middlemen. He added that we have returned the ownership of the acquired land to tribal people, as it was not being utilized properly. It is the first state government in the country and the world to take that kind of decision. Regarding distribution of forest land right certificates, Chief Minister said that some trouble-makers who are not in favour of tribal welfare, have taken the matter to the court. He said that the court has given stay order only for two months, after that we would start the distribution work again. Chief Minister said that State Government has decided to provide free education under RTE up to 12th standard. Chhattisgarh is  the first state of the country to provision free education up to 12th standard.

The programme was addressed by Ex-MP Mr. Sohan Potai and Ex-MLA Mr. Janakram Verma as well. On the occasion, goods and cheques of financial aid under various schemes were distributed to the beneficiaries. On the occasion, Collector Mr. Kartikey Goyal, SP Ms Neetu Kamal and a large number of people from Sarva Chhattisgarh Samaj were also present.
