In the March 1992 issue of India Today, Uday Mahurkar, in one of his stories, described Narendra Modi as the rise of the new star of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Then the media was writing about Narendra Modi

The time has come to build a Ram temple in Ayodhya. Ram temple is going to be worshiped on August 5. The foundation of the Ram temple will be laid on this day. Taking special care of constellations and Muhurta with silver brick, this auspicious work will be started. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be present on this special occasion.

Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir and Babri Masjid controversy has changed the state and direction of Indian politics forever. The BJP got a living from the Ram Mandir movement and today with the power of the Center, the BJP has become the largest political party in the world.

Before reaching here, the BJP made a long contribution to the Ram temple movement. Leaders like Lal Krishna Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi played an important role in the Ram temple movement. Advani took out a rath yatra and in 1992 the Babri Masjid structure in Ayodhya was demolished. In such a situation, the question is that what was Narendra Modi doing when the Babri demolition happened and what was being written about him in the media.

In the March 1992 issue of India Today, Uday Mahurkar, in one of his stories, described Narendra Modi as the rise of the new star of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He wrote that 38-year-old Narendra Modi, the convener of BJP President Murli Manohar Joshi’s Ekta Yatra, is becoming an important figure in the party and this is also the reason. While the analysis of the yatra is going on, on the other hand, there is a heated discussion in the BJP that Narendra Modi was also successful in persuading veteran leaders like Lal Krishna Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee to continue the yatra.

Not only this, now senior BJP leaders also keep consulting with Narendra Modi. The reason is simple. After joining the BJP through the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, within a short span of six years, Modi not only became the General Secretary of the Gujarat Party unit but also became an important leader of the party at the national level.

At that time Narendra Modi was also a member of the BJP’s National Executive Committee and the omnipotent six-member National Election Committee. Senior BJP leaders like Lal Krishna Advani, Murali Manohar Joshi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee were included in this committee.

In his report, Mahurkar further writes that Narendra Modi has emerged as a party image-maker with his talent for creating catchy Hindi slogans. Even Chimanbhai Patel, the smartest player in politics, respects his sharpness. Whenever the two are face to face, Chimanbhai tries to keep them happy and they can become an obstacle in the way of BJP leaders who are trying to adopt a soft attitude.

So in this way media reports were coming about Narendra Modi during Ram temple movement. Apparently at that time Narendra Modi’s skills had started getting in place and even before a decade passed, Narendra Modi got the command of Gujarat. After this he became the Prime Minister of the country in 2014 and during his second term with the Supreme Court’s decision on 9 November 2019, the path of construction of Ram temple was also cleared. Today the picture is that PM Modi is going to lay the foundation of Ram temple.
