President Ramnath Kovind on National Education Policy said – this policy will reduce the habit of killing ratta

New Delhi. President Ramnath Kovind has said that the aim of the National Education Policy is to revive our education system towards meeting the needs of the 21st century. He said that it gives a vision to develop a just and vibrant society by giving quality education to all.

President Kovind on Saturday addressed the Visitors’ Conference on ‘National Education Policy 2020: Implementation of Higher Education’ (‘Implementation of National Education Policy 2020: Higher Education’). He said that the National Education Policy has been prepared after extensive participation in 2.5 lakh gram panchayats, more than 12,500 local bodies and about 675 districts. More than 2 lakh suggestions have been considered.

Universities and institutes of higher education should be centers of innovation. The
President said that – ‘I appreciate Dr. RP Nishank, MP Sanjay Dhotre, concerned officials in the Ministry of Education of India and other institutions for completing the process of policy making. With this, Dr. Kasturirangan and his team, who prepared NEP 2020, deserve special praise. The aim of the NEP is that the student abandon the habit of rote for marks or grades. It seeks to encourage critical thinking and a sense of exploration.

Addressing the conference, the President said – ‘Curiosity to learn in our tradition is encouraged. The curiosity to learn it was given more importance than the desire to win Jigisha or any debate or argument. He said that universities and institutes of higher education should be centers of innovation. They should provide innovative solutions to national and local problems. Community participation and use of local resources should be encouraged to provide solutions to local problems. Effective implementation of NEP 2020 can bring India back to its pride of being a great center of education.
