Janmashtami is being celebrated 2 days this time due to the change of dates. Janmashtami was celebrated on Tuesday in 36 Mahamaya temples of Chhattisgarh, including Raipur. The birth anniversary of Shri Krishna as well as his sister Goddess Yogmaya was also celebrated here. However, Janmashtami will be celebrated on Wednesday in Radha-Krishna temples across the state. In fact, in most of the temples, only the birth anniversary of Krishna is celebrated. There is a tradition of celebrating the birth anniversary of Krishnaji as well as his elder sister Yogmaya in the Mahamaya temple. The tradition was also celebrated at the temple on Tuesday. Mother Mahamaya was specially decorated as Yogamaya. Earlier, he was anointed and worshiped Shodashopchar. Special puja-archana started from 10 o’clock at night which ended with Maha Aarti at 11.30. The celebration of the birth of Bal Gopal was celebrated with pomp at midnight i.e. 12 pm. The priest of the temple Pt. Manoj Shukla told that every year the birth celebration of Lord Krishna and his sister is celebrated. Devotees could not attend the festival this time due to the transition of Kovid-19. The temple priests and some people performed the entire puja together. Bhajan-kirtan was also performed.

Mahant Dr. Ramsundar Das said that the midnight celebration of Lord Krishna will be celebrated on Wednesday midnight. On this occasion, the gold decoration of Lord Balaji will be done. The monastery has a tradition of celebrating Janmashtami for 4 days. Devotees will be able to see God on all four days.
