India China Tension: Major-level talks between India and China today, discussion on border dispute

New Delhi: The deadlock between India and China on the Line of Actual Control in East Ladakh does not appear to be over. The agreement reached between the two countries on the withdrawal of troops does not seem to apply on the ground. Meanwhile, Major General level talks between India and China are going to be held once again in Daulat Beg Oldi region. According to Indian Army sources, it will discuss the disengagement process by China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh sector.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense had admitted that after May 5, Chinese troops had violated LAC in several areas of East Ladakh, including Galvan Valley. Chinese troops entered the northern shores of Kugrang Nala, Gogra and Pangong Lake on May 17-18. Apart from this, he has mobilized a large number of soldiers. According to the ministry, Chinese aggression on the LAC has not declined and the military deadlock is likely to be prolonged. At the same time, the dialogue between the two sides is continuing at a diplomatic and military level to reduce tension.

The fifth round of talks at the Corps Commander level were also inconclusive. Instead of withdrawing its troops on LAC, China on the contrary asked India to repel troops from Pangong and Finger Char areas. India rejected this demand of China outright. India has been patrolling in the Finger Four area for decades. China’s proposals were reviewed at the China Studies Group meeting chaired by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. After this, through the military hotline, India made it clear that the deadlock would be solved only by the restoration of the pre-infiltration position on the LAC.
