The government reviewed in detail the situation in East Ladakh on Friday. According to government sources, the operational preparedness of India was also reviewed keeping in view the aggressive attitude of the Chinese Army and the action of fresh provocation. The meeting lasted about one and a half hours.
During this time, the High-Power China Study Group, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat and heads of the three armies were present. Discussions were held in the meeting to increase vigilance on Line of Actual Control (LAC) including Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim sector.
According to sources informed by the Army Chief at the meeting , Army Chief General MM Narwane told the meeting about the fresh face-off of the India and China troops on the northern and southern banks of Pangong Lake. He also briefed about the steps taken by the Indian Army to deal with the situation. According to sources, the China Study Group meeting reviewed all aspects of the situation.
The meeting also discussed arrangements being made to maintain the current level of soldiers and weapons in the fierce winter in eastern Ladakh and other sensitive areas.
Corps Commander Level Meeting Next Week
According to possible sources, there has been no response from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China to the next round meeting of Corps Commander Level. The meeting is expected to take place next week. According to sources, the stress areas of eastern Ladakh as well as the northern and southern sides of Pangong Lake remain tense.
So far, 5 rounds of meetings have been held
, the first 5 rounds of meetings between the army officers of India and China did not yield any significant results. China has not withdrawn from the Finger-4 area of eastern Ladakh, but has increased the number of troops. According to the news agency, the government had discussed a few days ago about China’s buildup in Bhutan.

India and China have been tense since April-May. Chinese troops have tried to infiltrate several times from the Galvan Valley in East Ladakh to the Finger Area and the Pangong Lake area. On 15 June, there was an India-China clash in Galvan. On the night of 29-30 August, China tried to capture the hill at the southern end of Pangong Lake, but the Indian troops failed.
