‘Withdrawing forces from disputed site’: Mizoram chief secy after MHA meet on border row

Following a gathering known as by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) amid the continuing border rigidity between the 2 northeastern states, the Mizoram Chief Secretary on Wednesday stated that their forces had been being withdrawn from the disputed web site.

The newest flashpoint within the decades-old border dispute between Assam and Mizoram led to violent clashes during which a minimum of six individuals died and over 50 people had been injured.
The assembly was attended by MHA officers, and Chief Secretaries, and DGPs of Assam and Mizoram.

Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla chaired the assembly which was attended by Assam Chief Secretary Jishnu Baruah and Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta and their respective Mizoram counterparts Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and SBK Singh, officers stated.
“The central government is concerned over the Assam-Mizoram border dispute which led to violence and deaths of six people. The objective of the meeting is to lower the tension, bring peace and possibly find a solution,” a house ministry official was quoted as saying by information company PTI.
The Director General of CRPF additionally attended the assembly because the personnel of the paramilitary drive have been deployed within the Assam-Mizoram border areas the place rigidity is excessive, the official stated.
