Will expel Atiq Ahmed’s spouse from BSP if discovered concerned in lawyer’s homicide, says Mayawati

LUCKNOW: Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati on Monday stated her social gathering would expel mafia-turned politician Atiq Ahmed’s spouse Shahista Praveen, named in an FIR within the killing of a main witness within the BSP MLA Raju Pal homicide case, if she was discovered responsible throughout probe.

She additionally charged on the Samajwadi Party, terming Atiq Ahmed its “product”.

“There are reports about the registration of an FIR against Atiq Ahmed’s son and his wife in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal, an important witness in the Raju Pal murder case in Prayagraj, and his gunner. The BSP has taken serious cognisance of this. The BSP has decided that Shaista Parveen, wife of Atiq Ahmed, will be expelled from the party as soon as she is proved guilty in the ongoing investigation of this matter,” Mayawati stated in a tweet in Hindi.

“It is also well known that Atiq Ahmed is the product of Samajwadi Party, the party where he became MP and MLA, etc. And now Raju Pal’s wife has also gone from the BSP to the SP, the party she used to blame earlier. Therefore, under this guise, it is not right to do any politics under,” she stated.

“It is also known that the BSP does not punish any innocent person for the crime committed by his or her family or community. It is also true that the party does not promote criminal elements of any caste or religion,” Mayawati added.

Umesh Pal, the prime witness within the 2005 BSP MLA Raju Pal homicide case, was shot lifeless in Prayagraj on February 24.

One of his gunners, who too was hit throughout the firing, died later.

They have been booked below sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with lethal weapon), 149 (each member of illegal meeting responsible of offence dedicated in prosecution of widespread object), 302 (homicide), 307 (try to homicide), 506 (felony intimidation) and 120B (felony conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the Explosive Substances Act and the Criminal Law Amendment Act.

Jaya Pal had alleged that her husband was the prime witness within the Raju Pal homicide case.

In 2006, Atiq Ahmed and his aides had allegedly kidnapped him and compelled him to offer an announcement in courtroom of their favour.

Umesh Pal had registered a grievance on this regard and the case was happening within the courtroom.
