UP Special Task Force raids workplaces of PFI, its scholar wing in Delhi

The UP Special Task Force on Sunday raided the Delhi workplaces of Popular Front of India (PFI) and its scholar wing — Campus Front of India (CFI). This comes days after a court docket in Mathura despatched CFI chief Rauf Shareef to police custody for 5 days in connection to alleged funding of PFI members for “creating unrest after the Hathras gangrape incident”.
The PFI condemned the raid, calling it “a part of the ongoing harassment launched against the outfit by the UP government”.The STF mentioned the raid was carried out on the idea of the knowledge retrieved throughout interrogation.
“Now, we know that these people have a disruptive tendency and therefore, we need to conduct such searches. The raid was based on the information received from those under our custody, including Rauf Shareef. The raid might continue depending upon the information that Rauf gives,” ADG (STF) Amitabh Yash mentioned.
The official mentioned the raid was carried out on the PFI’s Shaheen Bagh workplace in Delhi and close by rooms after acquiring a search warrant from a court docket.
In an announcement, PFI common secretary Anis Ahmed mentioned that the STF didn’t comply with any authorized course of and didn’t present the search warrant, nor gave the seizure report back to the workplace staffs.

Earlier, Shareef was introduced from Ernakulam jail in Kerala the place he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in December in a cash laundering case.
In a remand report submitted at a Kerala court docket, the ED had alleged that Shareef had funded the journey of Siddique Kappan, a Delhi-based Kerala journalist, who was arrested together with three others by Uttar Pradesh Police whereas on their technique to Hathras following the gangrape and dying of a Dalit lady.
