UP: Dalit man thrashed, tonsured for ‘stealing’ bathroom seat; BJP chief amongst 3 held

BAHRAICH (UP): A 30-year-old Dalit man was allegedly tied to an electrical pole, thrashed, tonsured, and his face blackened by three males on the suspicion of stealing a rest room seat in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, police stated on Sunday.

All the accused, together with a neighborhood BJP chief, have been arrested, they stated.

The incident, which befell on Wednesday in Pure Hind Singh village below Hardia police station space, got here to the fore after its purported video surfaced on social media.

In the video, the Dalit man recognized as Rajesh Kumar, a day by day wager, is seen being thrashed and paraded by the accused.

Police lodged an FIR in opposition to three individuals within the case and initiated investigations.

Additional Superintendent of police Ashok Kumar stated an FIR below related sections of IPC and SC/ST Act in opposition to native BJP chief Radheshyam Mishra, Saroj alias Renu Vajpai and Rakesh Tiwari was registered on Thursday.

“All the accused have been arrested,” Kumar stated.
