The Yogi Adityanath authorities in Uttar Pradesh has began cracking down on social media ‘offenders’ in a giant method. The Unnao police, on Sunday, lodged an FIR in opposition to eight Twitter handles and their customers, on expenses of spreading “misleading information” in reference to the restoration of the our bodies of two minor women in Baburha village of the district.
Earlier, on Saturday, former MP and Congress chief, Udit Raj, had been booked by Unnao police for allegedly spreading misinformation by means of his tweet.
Unnao police claimed that the customers of those eight twitter handles had tweeted that the 2 minor women, who have been discovered useless within the fields, have been sexually assaulted and that their final rites have been carried out in opposition to the want of their households.
The Twitter customers have been booked below expenses of spreading rumours with the intention of inflicting riots and below related sections of the Information Technology Act.
Superintendent of Police, Unnao, Anand Kulkarni stated, “All those who tried to flare up tension and disturb harmony through different social media platforms will not be let off. We have lodged an FIR and will conduct a probe into the tweets. The misinformation was deliberately spread by people associated with parties, units and groups which are trying to discredit the ruling government and disturb the prevailing law and order.”

Kulkarni claimed a number of the updates and tweets have been eliminated after the police issued a press release that the autopsy report has not confirmed rape.
The SP stated regardless of the autopsy examination ruling out sexual assault and accidents on the our bodies of the victims, some folks and events having vested pursuits, continued to unfold misinformation that the women have been raped.
“Similarly, neither the police nor the administration was trying to conduct last rites of the two girls. The family told us that some of their relatives were to arrive from Surat and they would then perform the last rites of the girls,” he added.
