Ukraine conflict: MEA says 13 flights will deliver house 2,200 Indians on Sunday

NEW DELHI: Thirteen flights with greater than 2,200 Indian evacuees will function from Ukraine’s neighbouring international locations to India on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs mentioned.

“During the next 24 hours, we have close to 13 flights scheduled to bring back Indians who have crossed the Ukrainian border on the Western side,” mentioned MEA spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

There are near 300 college students within the protected zone of Pesochin and all of them could be transported to the border by Saturday. There aren’t any Indians left in Kharkiv and the one space of concern is Sumy the place almost 700 Indian college students have been stranded.

Sumy is nearly 60 km away from the Russian border however since there may be fixed shelling, it isn’t protected for college students to step out.

“The students are largely concentrated in two camps which is safe for them. They did face some shortage of water and electricity outages yesterday, but all that has been restored now. We are trying all options to get them out with safety and they continue to be our primary area of concern,” Bagchi mentioned.

Around 17,333 Indians have returned to India from Ukraine because the first advisory was issued by the Indian embassy in Kyiv.

Out of those 13,330 have returned by way of the 63 evacuation flights which have been organized by the Indian authorities. Around 4,000 Indians had returned previous to the outbreak of the battle.

India has been urgent for a ceasefire from each Russia and Ukraine, and until that really occurs it could not be protected to evacuate the scholars who’re stranded there.

According to some estimates, there aren’t greater than 1000 Indians left in Ukraine now. Most of those that have crossed the border would return to India by Sunday.
