GUWAHATI: Two extra lacking building labourers from Assam have been rescued from Kurung Kumey district of Arunachal Pradesh.

District Magistrate Nighee Bengia mentioned Kholebuddin Sheikh (27) and Shamidul Sheikh (19) have been rescued in important situation by the State Disaster Response Force and locals from a jungle between Huri to Tapa at round 1:30 pm on Sunday. With these, 10 of the 19 lacking staff have been rescued up to now.

“The two have been first delivered to SBI camp, Huri for first help. Later, they have been taken to the PHC, Damin. They are very severe and more likely to be evacuated to Naharlagun or Koloriang district hospital,” Bengia mentioned.

He mentioned the members of the rescue workforce returned by the night because of the menace of toxic snakes within the jungle. However, he added, the operation could be resumed on Monday to rescue the remaining others.

“As per the statements of the two rescued persons, they left four persons, who were critical and could not walk in the forest, behind them,” the DM mentioned. He mentioned an IAF chopper couldn’t conduct the search operation on Sunday because of inclement climate.

The 19 staff, principally Muslims, have been engaged within the building of a highway from Huri to the China border they usually had fled their camp on July 19, ostensibly after being denied go away to go residence for Eid.
