Tarun Tejpal acquitted in 2013 rape case: A timeline of occasions

Tarun Tejpal, former editor-in-chief of Tehelka, was Friday acquitted in a 2013 rape case by the Mapusa District and Sessions Court in Goa. Tejpal was dealing with trial for allegedly raping and sexually assaulting a girl in a lodge elevator in 2013.
Tejpal was accused of committing offences underneath IPC Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 342 (wrongful confinement), 354 (assault or legal power with intent to outrage modesty), 354A (sexual harassment), 354B (assault or use of legal power to girl with intent to disrobe), 376 (2)(f) (particular person in place of authority over ladies, committing rape) and 376(2)(okay) (rape by particular person in place of management). He was acquitted of all fees.

November 23, 2013: FIR lodged towards Tejpal by a girl who accused him of sexually assaulting her in a lodge elevator on November 7, 2013.
November 30, 2013: Tejpal positioned underneath arrest by the Goa Police Crime Branch after his anticipatory bail is rejected by a courtroom.
February 17, 2014: Crime Branch information chargesheet working into 2,846-pages, divided into 12 volumes with statements of 152 witnesses.
July 2014: Supreme Court grants bail to Tejpal. He is launched from jail.
June 2017: Sessions courtroom accepts Tejpal’s plea to conduct the trial in-camera.
September 26, 2017: Tejpal contests framing of fees within the High Court of Bombay at Goa. HC refuses to grant keep.
September 28, 2017: Sessions courtroom frames fees towards Tejpal.
March 2018: Prosecution conducts sufferer’s examination in chief
August 19, 2019: SC rejects Tejpal’s plea to quash the FIR filed towards him claiming he was framed. Directs the trial courtroom to finish trial in six months.
October 2019: Trial recommences
March 2020 to September 2020: Trial stalled on account of the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic
October 28, 2020: SC asks trial courtroom to finish the trial by March 31, 2021
January 2021: Goa police submits supplementary chargesheet to trial courtroom, says its needs to look at ten extra witnesses.
March 2021: Arguments conclude. Sessions courtroom lists judgment for April 27.
April 27, 2021: Sessions courtroom defers judgment to May 12.
May 12, 2021: Judgment deferred to May 19 after courtroom cites scarcity of employees on account of Covid-19.
May 19, 2021: Judgment deferred to May 21 as a consequence of energy outage on account of Cyclone Tauktae.
May 21, 2021: Goa courtroom acquits Tarun Tejpal of all fees.
