Songadh man arrested for posting ‘hate comments, objectionable photos’ on social media

A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly posting hate messages and objectionable images towards a neighborhood on social media, the police stated Monday. The messages and pictures have since been taken down from the web, the police added.
According to police, a criticism was registered at Songadh police station in Tapi district towards Bhushan Soni, a resident of Ramaniya Park Society of the city, after a criticism on expenses of wounding non secular sentiments by posting alleged hate messages and objectionable images on Facebook was submitted by one Hayat Khan Pathan, a resident of Akshanagar, on Sunday.
Soni’s submit, police stated, had been shared a number of occasions on completely different social media teams, following which a number of individuals reached Songadh police station and requested the police to provoke strict actions towards the accused.

Songadh Police Inspector H C Gohil stated, “Soni was arrested Sunday for uploading a hate post on his Facebook page. He has removed the messages from his account on our instructions. We have come to know that around one year ago, he had also put such hate messages and photographs on his Facebook page. At that time, no police complaint was registered and he was strictly told by local residents not to indulge in such activity.”
The accused, police added, works in a textile manufacturing unit in Surat however is a resident of Songadh.

Police have registered the offence below IPC 153 (A) for selling enmity between completely different teams on floor of faith, race, native land, residence, and language, and 295 (A) for deliberate and malicious acts, meant to outrage reli­gious emotions of any class by insulting its faith or reli­gious beliefs.
