Pune: Six cattle shed homeowners held for administering oxytocin hormone

PUNE: Police have arrested six cattle shed homeowners for allegedly administering oxytocin hormone, produced illegally, to cows and buffaloes to extend milk yield, police stated on Tuesday.
The arrests had been made by the Anti-Narcotic Cell on Monday, they stated.
Last week, the Pune police had claimed to have busted a racket concerned in unlawful manufacturing and sale of oxytocin hormone by arresting two individuals – Sameer Kureshi and Allauddin alias Babubhai Laskar.
A case was registered towards them on the Vimantal police station beneath related sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
“During investigation, it was revealed Kureshi had offered illegally produced oxytocin hormone to 6 cattle shed homeowners within the metropolis.
Based on the knowledge, these cattle shed homeowners had been investigated and it was discovered they had been administering oxytocin hormone to cows and buffaloes to extend manufacturing of milk,” stated a police officer.
Oxytocin is run to induce milk into the udder of dairy cattle and suspected to trigger hostile results on the well being of those animals.
