Prophet remarks row: Setback for Rajasthan BJP as councillor resigns from celebration

KOTA: A BJP municipal councillor right here has resigned from the celebration in protest in opposition to the controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by now-suspended celebration spokesperson Nupur Sharma.

Tabassum Mirza, BJP’s councillor from ward quantity 14 of Kota Municipal Corporation, South, on Monday despatched her resignation letter to celebration’s state unit chief Satish Poonia and Kota district president Krishan Kumar Soni, mentioning the rationale behind her resignation.

In her letter to Soni, Mirza, who joined BJP round 10 years in the past, stated that she is resigning from the first membership of the celebration as within the ongoing circumstances, it’s not attainable for her to proceed to work with the celebration.

In a separate letter to Rajasthan BJP chief Satish Poonia, Mirza expressed remorse on being a member of the celebration, saying that the celebration failed to manage its functionaries who’ve been criticising her “Nabi”.

““If I continue to be member of BJP and support it despite there being so much (against Prophet), there would be none other bigger offender than me.”

“Now my consciousness has awakened and I can no longer continue to work in the party,”” she wrote to the celebration’s state chief.

When contacted, Mirza stated she despatched her resignation letter to Poonia and Soni by way of e-mail and submit.

Meanwhile, Soni denied having acquired any resignation letter on e-mail or by submit.

““I have not received any resignation from a party councillor”,” Soni stated.
