Prime Minister Narendra Modi has mourned the death of Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan

Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan, the head of the famous Mar Thoma Church of Pathanamthitta, Kerala, died early Sunday (18 October). He was 90 years old. He breathed his last at around 2.30 am in a local private hospital due to age-related illness. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over his demise. The PM wrote in his condolence message, “Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma Metropolitan was a rich and remarkable personality who served humanity and improved the lives of poor and downtrodden Worked hard for. People had a lot of sympathy, humility and reverence towards them. Their noble ideals will always be remembered. Humble tribute .. “

PM Modi has written in another tweet that he got a chance to address on his 90th birthday celebrations a few months ago. PM has also shared a video clip of him. The Prime Minister then wished Dr. Joseph for his health by congratulating him for a long life and best health. The PM said that Dr. Joseph Mar Thoma has dedicated his life for the betterment of our society and nation. He was particularly enthusiastic about poverty alleviation and women empowerment. Joseph Mar Thomas was nominated as the Metropolitan with the franchise in 1999. After this, he was crowned as Metropolitan in the year 2007. He held the responsibility as head of the Mar Thoma Church for 13 years. He was also the Chief Coordinator of the Maramom Convention. He was born on 27 June 1931. His real name was PT Joseph. In 1957, he joined the church as a pastor. In 1975, he was given the title of Joseph Mar Irenaeus, in view of his service.
