Polling begins for 22 seats in second part of Manipur meeting elections

IMPHAL: Polling for the second and final part of meeting elections in Manipur started at 7 am on Saturday in 22 constituencies throughout six districts, an official stated.

A complete of 8.38 lakh voters are eligible to train their franchise on this part within the districts of Thoubal, Chandel, Ukhrul, Senapati, Tamenglong and Jiribam, he stated.

All preparations are in place to carry voting in 1,247 polling stations adhering to COVID-19 security protocols, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajesh Agarwal had stated on Friday.

The electoral destiny of 92 candidates can be selected Saturday, together with 12 from the BJP, adopted by Congress (18), National People’s Party (11), Janata Dal (United) and Naga People’s Front (10 every).

Polling will proceed until 4 pm.
