PM Modi needs Mallikarjun Kharge fruitful tenure as Congress president

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi greeted Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on his election as social gathering president on Wednesday and wished him a fruitful tenure.

“My greatest needs to Shri Mallikarjun Kharge Ji for his new duty as President of @INCIndia.

May he have a fruitful tenure forward,” Modi tweeted.

Kharge was elected Congress president, defeating Shashi Tharoor in an electoral contest, the sixth within the social gathering’s 137-year-old historical past.

The Karnataka chief will formally take over because the social gathering’s president on October 26.

He would be the first social gathering president from outdoors the Gandhi household in 24 years.
