Parliament’s Monsoon Session likely to be affected due to COVID-19

The current Monsoon Session of the Parliament which started on 14 September was set to conclude on 1 October. However, the rising Covid Cases in the country leading to more and more MPs and Ministers testing positive for covid-19, the parliament session is likely to be reduced and is expected to conclude by mid on the coming week.

Some Members of Parliament, including Union ministers Nitin Gadkari and Prahlad Patel, tested positive for COVID-19 during the session.

The Lok Sabha in the monsoon session has so far passed three Bills to replace agriculture sector related ordinances. Also, both the Houses have cleared a bill to replace an ordinance for cutting by 30 per cent the salaries of MPs to ramp up funds in the fight against the pandemic.
