Officer suspended in Rajasthan after order towards caste identify, designation on car quantity plates

JAIPUR: A Rajasthan Administrative Service officer was suspended right here following an argument over an order directing motion towards those that inscribe the identify of their caste or designation on car quantity plates.

The controversy erupted after the order talked about phrase “Gurjar”, inviting a pointy response.

Additional Commissioner of the Transport Department Akash Tomar issued the order on Monday to all RTOs/DTOs, saying “pradhan, sarpanch, Gurjar, etc”. phrases are being written on the registration plate autos within the state, which is a punishable offense below the Motor Vehicle Act.

He directed officers to take strict motion below guidelines towards such violators and ship a report of the motion taken to the headquarters in seven days.

Reacting to the order, Gurjar chief Vijay Singh Bainsla mentioned the Gurjar caste had been focused within the order and it was inappropriate for an officer to difficulty such an order.

Condemning the order, he requested whether or not solely Gurjar folks write names on quantity plates.

Shortly after reactions, the officer revised the order and dropped “pradhan, sarpanch and Gurjar”.

In the revised order, he mentioned motion needs to be taken towards those that have written any “designation” or “caste indicator word” on the quantity plate.

Later, the Department of Personnel issued an order to droop Tomar.

However, the rationale for the suspension was not talked about within the order.
