Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reviewed the scenario in Uttarakhand following floods attributable to a glacier burst at Joshimath in Chamoli district, and took inventory of the rescue and reduction work underway. 

“Am constantly monitoring the unfortunate situation in Uttarakhand. India stands with Uttarakhand and the nation prays for everyone’s safety there. Have been continuously speaking to senior authorities and getting updates on  NDRF deployment, rescue work and relief operations,” Modi tweeted. 

The PMO stated in one other tweet that Modi, who’s in Assam to launch a number of growth tasks, reviewed the scenario in Uttarakhand and spoke to the state chief minister.

“Authorities are working to provide all possible support to the affected,” the PMO stated.
