NAGPUR:  The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday warned of “moderate flash flood risk” within the subsequent 24 hours in a couple of areas within the Vidarbha area of Maharashtra.

Talking to PTI, Dr Praveen Kumar, scientist, Regional Meteorological Centre (Nagpur) – a unit of the IMD – stated there’s a risk of “moderate flash flood risk” within the subsequent 24 hours in a couple of locations of Nagpur, Amravati, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Chandrapur and Bhandara districts of Vidarbha.

Due to a well-marked low-pressure space over central components of Madhya Pradesh, heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted over the adjoining state and reasonable to heavy showers over a couple of districts of Vidarbha, which can trigger reasonable flooding, he stated.

According to the most recent IMD bulletin, a thunderstorm with lightning is more likely to happen at remoted locations over Nagpur and Wardha.

Light to reasonable rainfall is more likely to happen at most locations over Wardha, many locations over Nagpur, at a couple of areas over Yavatmal and at remoted locations over Akola, Amravati, Chandrapur and Washim districts of Vidarbha, it stated.

There is a risk of an intense spell of rainfall with the gusty wind (pace 40-50 kmph) at remoted locations over Nagpur, stated the bulletin.
