Mehbooba Mufti re-elected as PDP president

Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti was on Monday unanimously re-elected as president of the PDP for a three-year time period.
Mufti’s title was proposed by senior chief Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura and seconded by Khurshid Alam, a celebration spokesperson stated after the election.
Senior PDP chief Abdul Rehman Veeri was the chairman of celebration election board, he stated.

The spokesperson stated the celebration’s electoral school in Jammu had earlier unanimously re-elected Mufti as celebration chief.
Senior chief Surinder Chaudhary was the returning officer for the election.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was shaped in 1998 by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as a regional different to the National Conference.
The celebration grew from energy to energy over the last twenty years with many political stalwarts becoming a member of it. Several technocrats and bureaucrats, after retiring from service, additionally joined the PDP over time.

However, the celebration was on the verge of break up after the PDP-BJP coalition authorities in Jammu and Kashmir fell in June 2018.
While Mufti has managed to retain the grip over the celebration, a lot of the outstanding leaders together with some founding members have left over the past two years.
