Manipur partially withdraws ban on broadband; cell web stays suspended

IMPHAL: The Manipur authorities on Tuesday lifted the suspension on broadband web conditionally in a ‘liberalised method’, practically three months after it was banned because of the ethnic violence within the state.
However, cell web will stay suspended, the Home Department stated in a notification.
“Connection will be only through static IP and that the subscriber concerned shall not accept any other connection other than allowed for the time being [TSP/ISP shall be held responsible for non-compliance of this condition],” it stated.
“No Wifi Hotspots shall be allowed from any of the routers and systems using the connection at any cost by the subscriber concerned,” it stated.
The authorities has thought-about the struggling of the individuals because the web ban affected places of work and establishments, and other people working from house, in addition to cell recharge, LPG cylinder reserving, cost of electrical energy payments, and different on-line providers, the order stated.
