Mamata seeks PM Modi’s assist in procuring COVID vaccines for Bengal

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi searching for his assist in procuring COVID-19 vaccines within the state. She stated that folks, within the ensuing elections, will likely be pressured to go to the polling stations with none vaccination protection. “We feel that it is equally important to reach out to them with a rapid vaccination programme immediately for interest of health and well being of all concerned with the election process,” Banerjee stated.

Meanwhile, the federal government on Wednesday introduced the second part of the vaccination drive within the nation from March 1. Under the drive, folks above 60 years of age and people greater than 45 having comorbidities will likely be given vaccine doses. 

Election to the 294-member West Bengal meeting is due in April-May.
