Maharashtra: Case towards unidentified individual for throwing footwear at Fadnavis’ convoy

PUNE: Police have registered a case towards an unidentified individual for allegedly hurling a slipper on the convoy of Leader of Opposition within the Maharashtra Assembly Devendra Fadnavis in Pune, an official mentioned on Tuesday.

The incident befell on Sunday when Fadnavis had come to inaugurate the Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee backyard at Purna Nagar in Pimpri Chinchwad space, he mentioned.

Minutes earlier than the arrival of former chief minister Fadnavis, some BJP and NCP employees clashed on the venue, prompting police to resort to a gentle lathicharge.

As per the police, when Fadnavis reached the venue, an individual from the group allegedly hurled a slipper on the convoy.

“We have registered a case against an unidentified person under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code,” an official from Chikhali police station mentioned.

The NCP employees had come to the spot alleging that the BJP chief was inaugurating the backyard although its work was incomplete.
