Maha: Woman killed by tiger; 50 useless in Chandrapur this 12 months in massive cat assaults

CHANDRAPUR: A 50-year-old lady was mauled to dying by a tiger in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district in Thursday afternoon, a forest division official stated.

Swaroopa Teletiwar was killed when she was plucking cotton in a discipline close to Khadi village in Saoli vary, some 60 kilometres from right here, Chief Conservator of Forests Prakash Lonkar stated.

In all, 50 individuals have died this 12 months within the district in assaults by massive cats, one other official stated.

Forty-four of the assaults had been by tigers and 6 by leopards, he stated.

Maharashtra forest minister Sudhir Mungantiwar on Thursday requested officers in his division to curb tiger-human conflicts in Chandrapur by taking acceptable steps.

Action could be taken towards officers in the event that they fail to curb tiger-human conflicts, a launch quoted the minister as saying. He stated “troublesome tigers” have to be caged to present reduction to individuals.

Mungantiwar is the guardian minister of Chandrapur.
