A khap panchayat in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district has barred ladies from sporting denims and males from sporting shorts, saying they’re a part of western tradition and that individuals ought to put on conventional Indian garments.

He stated these garments are a part of the western tradition.

“We should wear our traditional clothes such as sarees, ‘ghagra’ and ‘salwar-kameez’,” he stated.
