Kerala minister Okay T Jaleel resigns

Kerala Higher Education minister Okay T Jaleel on Tuesday resigned from the Pinarayi Vijayan cabinet days after the state Lokayukta held that he had ‘abused’ his place as a public servant to acquire a favour for a relative.
Jaleel has despatched his resignation to the Chief Minister and it has been forwarded to the Governor, sources within the Chief Minister’s workplace advised PTI.
The growth was additionally confirmed by the minister in a Facebook publish.
The resignation comes a day after he moved the Kerala High Court searching for a keep on the Lokayukta order.
A division bench of the Lok Ayukta had on Friday submitted the report towards Jaleel to the Chief Minister and had mentioned the minister shouldn’t proceed within the publish.
The bench had held that the allegation of abuse of energy, favouritism and nepotism towards the minister was proved.
The Lok Ayukta verdict was on a grievance filed by a Muslim Youth League chief in November 2018, alleging that Adeeb, a cousin of Jaleel, was appointed common supervisor within the Kerala State Minorities Development Finance Corporation, flouting guidelines.
Adeeb was the supervisor of a personal financial institution when the appointment was made.
