Kerala HC refuses to remain additional proceedings in sedition case in opposition to Ayesha Sulthana

The Kerala High Court on Friday refused to remain additional proceedings within the sedition case registered in opposition to Lakshadweep filmmaker Ayesha Sulthana.
Considering a plea filed by Sulthana searching for to quash the FIR registered in opposition to her by the Kavaratti police, the High Court stated investigation within the case was in a preliminary stage and extra time could also be required for finishing the probe.
Refusing to remain additional proceedings within the case, the court docket directed the Lakshadweep administration to offer particulars of the investigation. When the matter was taken up, the counsel for the administration opposed the plea, submitting that the investigation within the case was in a preliminary stage.

A case was registered on June 9 below Section 124-A (sedition) and 153 B (hate speech) of IPC on the idea of a petition lodged by a political chief hailing from Kavaratti. Last week, the High Court had granted anticipatory bail to Sulthana within the sedition case.
Granting bail, Justice Ashok Menon had stated there was no obvious indication in her assertion, which quantities to imputations or assertions prejudicial to the nationwide curiosity, nor does it propagate any class of individuals in opposition to one other group of individuals. Sulthana was interrogated by the Kavaratti police thrice final week in reference to the case.
