Karnataka to type committee to manage hate speeches: CM Basavaraj Bommai

HUBBALLI: With a spate of communal flare-ups recurring in Karnataka, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated the State would type a committee to manage hate speeches in accordance with directions of the Supreme Court.

“We will type a committee to manage hate speeches in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court,” Bommai instructed reporters on Thursday on the Hubballi airport.

The Chief Minister stated such speeches are on the rise throughout the nation, particularly on social media platforms.

The Supreme Court orders can be adopted and a committee can be constituted to manage hate speeches, he stated.

The State witnessed pressure ranging from January, when the Hijab row started.

It was adopted by the homicide of Harsha, a Hindu activist, in Shivamogga.

The proper wing outfits additionally ran a marketing campaign towards halal lower meat and pushed for Jhatka meat throughout the ‘Hosa Tadaku’, a competition to eat non-vegetarian meals a day after Ugadi.

Further, there was a boycott of Hindu fishermen by the Muslims in Udupi protesting towards the rally by the proper wing members demanding ban on cow slaughter.

The incident resulted in boycott of Muslim merchants round Hindu temples.

In the meantime, violence broke out in Hubballi over a social media put up exhibiting saffron flag on a mosque.

Police had arrested over 130 individuals, together with a cleric Waseem Pathan.
