Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Laxman Savadi on Wednesday mentioned Mumbai needs to be made a part of the state and urged the Centre to declare it a Union Territory till then, as he hit again at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray for raking up the border situation with the same demand.
“We condemn the Maharashtra CM’s assertion. The Mahajan report is ultimate. We are assured that issues can be in our favour within the Supreme Court too.
The demand of the folks of our area is that we’ve got been a part of Mumbai-Karnataka (area), so we too have our proper on Mumbai,” Savadi informed reporters.
From now on, he mentioned the folks would begin demanding that Mumbai needs to be made a part of Karnataka as they too had a share in it.
“Until it (Mumbai) is made part of Karnataka, I urge the central government to make it a union territory,” the DCM mentioned in response to a query on repeated raking up of the border situation.
“With us now demanding Mumbai, things may get fine,” he mentioned.
Earlier within the day, Thackeray had mentioned that areas dominated by Marathi-speaking folks on the state’s border with Karnataka needs to be declared as a Union Territory until the Supreme Court offers its ultimate verdict on the difficulty.
