Journalist Mohammad Zubair arrested in Delhi for ‘hurting non secular sentiments’

NEW DELHI: Journalist and Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair was arrested on Monday by the Delhi Police for allegedly hurting non secular sentiments, officers mentioned.

He was apparently one of many first individuals to tweet about Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks about prophet Muhammed which snowballed into an argument.

It could also be recalled that Sharma, the nationwide spokesperson of BJP was suspended whereas Jindal, Media head of  Delhi unit of the occasion was expelled over their remarks on Prophet Mohammad.

Meanwhile, a case was earlier registered towards Zubair underneath sections 153A (selling enmity between completely different teams on grounds of faith, race, fatherland, language and many others) and 295A (deliberate and malicious act meant to outrage non secular emotions) of the Indian Penal Code, Okay P S Malhotra, DCP (Cyber Crime), mentioned.

Zubair joined the probe on Monday and after gathering adequate proof on document, he was arrested, Malhotra mentioned.

He mentioned Zubair is being produced earlier than a Justice of the Peace for searching for police remand.
