Infant amongst 32 individuals hospitalised after fireplace in residential constructing in Mumbai’s Dharavi

MUMBAI: At least 32 individuals, together with a one-month-old boy, had been injured and admitted to hospitals after a fireplace erupted of their seven-storey residential constructing in Dharavi slum space of central Mumbai on Sunday, an official mentioned.

Seventy to eighty individuals had been rescued after the hearth broke out in Shama constructing situated on 90 Feet Road round 11 am.

It was doused by round 12.30 pm, he mentioned.

“The blaze broke out on the ground floor of the building. It was confined to electric wiring, CCTVs in the common passage area and the duct. Some scrap material kept on the fifth and seventh floors also caught fire,” the civic official mentioned.

It was a degree one (small) fireplace and after being alerted, the native fireplace brigade personnel rushed to the spot and commenced the firefighting operation, he mentioned.

“A total of 32 persons either suffered injuries or complained of uneasiness following the fire. All of them, including a one-month-old boy, were admitted to different hospitals. While two senior citizens were admitted to Sion Hospital, others were admitted to Ayush Hospital,” he mentioned, including that no loss of life has been reported within the incident.
