India asks nationals in Canada to stay vigilant in opposition to ‘hate crimes’, ‘anti-India actions’

NEW DELHI: India on Friday suggested its nationals in Canada and people travelling to that nation to train due warning and stay vigilant in view of the “sharp increase in incidents of hate crimes, sectarian violence and anti-India activities” there.

In an advisory, the Ministry of External Affairs additionally mentioned the High Commission/Consulates General in Canada have taken up these incidents with the Canadian authorities and requested them to research the mentioned crimes and take acceptable motion, the discharge mentioned.

The perpetrators of those crimes haven’t been dropped at justice to date in Canada, the MEA mentioned.

“In view of the increasing incidents of crimes as described above, Indian nationals and students from India in Canada and those proceeding to Canada for travel or education are advised to exercise due caution and remain vigilant”, the advisory mentioned.

Indian nationals and college students from India in Canada may additionally register with the High Commission of India in Ottawa or the Consulates General of India in Toronto and Vancouver by their respective web sites, or the MADAD portal madad.gov.in, the ministry mentioned.

The registration would allow the High Commission and the Consulates General to higher join with Indian residents in Canada within the occasion of any requirement or emergency, it added.
