I-T division conducts pan-India raids towards unrecognised political events, linked funding

NEW DELHI: The revenue tax division on Wednesday launched raids in a number of states as a part of a tax evasion probe towards registered unrecognised political events (RUPP) and their alleged doubtful funding, official sources stated.
The searches are being carried out in Gujarat, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana and another states, they stated.
A coordinated motion has been launched by the tax division towards the RUPPs, their linked entities, operators and others, the sources stated.
The shock motion is known to have been taken by the division on the advice of the Election Commission (EC) which just lately struck off 87 entities from its listing of RUPP after they had been discovered non-existent throughout bodily verification.
The ballot panel had introduced that it was taking motion towards greater than 2,100 registered unrecognised political events for flouting guidelines and election legal guidelines, together with these associated to submitting of financial contributions, failing to replace their handle and names of workplace bearers.
