Himachal floods: 11 passengers of Punjab Roadways bus nonetheless lacking; 3 our bodies recovered in Shimla

SHIMLA: Eleven passengers of a Punjab state transport company bus, which was swept away by the swelling Beas river in Manali on July 10, have been but to be traced, police mentioned on Sunday.

The passengers, all from Uttar Pradesh, took the Pepsu Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) bus from Chandigarh on July 9. The wreckage of the bus was discovered in the midst of the Beas river in Manali on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the our bodies of three individuals — an aged couple and their grandson — who have been swept away together with their roadside eatery in a flash flood in Laila rivulet at a village in Rohru have been recovered from the Pabbar river in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh on Sunday.

The our bodies swept away on Saturday have been recovered by the police, Shimla Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi advised PTI.

Roshan Lal and his spouse Bhaga Devi used to run the dhaba within the village and their grandson Kartik had paid them a go to when the tragedy struck, the officers mentioned.

According to the police, the wreckage of the Punjab street transport company bus was discovered 300 metres down from the inexperienced tax barrier of the Allo (potato) floor in the midst of the Beas river in Manali on Saturday and a search is on for the 11 passengers.

“We have got a list of 11 missing persons, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh, who were suspected to be in the bus when it was swept away and a search is on to find the missing persons,” Kullu Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma advised PTI.

The bus couldn’t be taken out because of heavy present within the river. The officers of PRTC had recognized the bus which began its journey from Sector 34 in Chandigarh to Manali on July 9 and was swept away in floods on July 10 close to Manali.

Several movies of the bus, vans and light-weight autos inundated in Beas river, floods washing away homes, enterprise institutions and parking tons on the banks went viral following floods in Kullu and Mandi districts.

So far, 25 individuals have died, 26 sustained accidents and 4 are nonetheless lacking in Shimla district and about 88 homes, 47 autos and eight animal sheds have been broken within the present monsoon season, Gandhi mentioned.

More than 150 individuals have been rescued by varied groups of police, administration and others in 44 rescue operations, he mentioned.

The native Met workplace on Sunday issued orange warning of heavy to very heavy rains at remoted locations on July 25 and 26 and yellow warning of heavy rains on July 24 and 27.
