Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad arrests man wished for abduction, killing of Kolkata jeweller

AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has arrested a person, who was wished for the kidnapping and homicide of a Kolkata-based jeweller, from neighbouring Maharashtra, an official mentioned on Wednesday.

A workforce of the ATS nabbed the accused Vishal Sharma from Shirdi in neighbouring Maharashtra, and has introduced him to Ahmedabad for questioning, he mentioned.

Sharma, a local of Delhi, was wished by the police in Kolkata and Odisha, with the latter having introduced a reward of Rs 50,000 for info on his whereabouts, the ATS mentioned in a press release.

On February 14, jeweller Shantilal Vaid (66) was discovered strangled to dying at a visitor home in Kolkata’s Bhowanipore space.

Vaid had been kidnapped and his household had been requested to pay a ransom of Rs 1 crore, of which that they had paid Rs 25 lakh.
