CHANDRAPUR: Four tiger cubs had been discovered useless within the buffer zone of the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) in Maharashtra’s Chandrapur district on Saturday, a forest official mentioned. Injuries had been discovered on the cubs, which point out that they had been killed by a tiger, he mentioned.

“The carcasses of two male and two female cubs, aged three to four months, were found at Shivni forest range in the buffer zone this morning,” the reserve’s chief conservator of forest Dr Jitendra Ramgaonkar mentioned.

The carcasses had been noticed in compartment no 265, near the place a tigress (T-75) was discovered useless on November 30, he mentioned.

A search group of the vary forest officer of Shivni and different workers had been monitoring the actions of the cubs since December 2, after the presence of a tiger was reported within the neighborhood, the official mentioned.

“Injuries were found on the cubs, which indicate that they were killed by the tiger. The forest team has noted the presence of two tigers and a tigress in the area, because of which the identity of their mother is not confirmed,” Ramgaonkar mentioned.

The carcasses can be despatched to the transit therapy centre for post-mortem. Tissue samples of the cubs and the useless tigress can be analysed to determine the identification of the mom, he mentioned.

Intensive monitoring to trace the motion of different tigers will proceed within the space with the assistance of digital camera traps and by deploying subject personnel, the official added.
