Farm legal guidelines: CJI says can’t disqualify a panel member over earlier views

In feedback which may be related to the Supreme Court-appointed committee to look into points associated to the farm legal guidelines, Chief Justice of India S A Bobde Tuesday noticed that an individual won’t be disqualified from being a member of any committee merely as a result of she or he beforehand held an opinion on the topic being thought of by it.
“There is some confusion regarding the law. Somebody may have an opinion before being part of the committee but his opinion can change. There is no way that such a person cannot be part of the committee,” the CJI noticed through the listening to of a case that raised the query of inadequacies and inefficiencies in felony trial.
The feedback come at a time protesting farmers teams have stated that they won’t cooperate with the four-member committee constituted by the highest courtroom on January 12 in an try to discover a resolution to the farm legal guidelines subject, saying its members had taken a stand in favour of the farm legal guidelines up to now.
