ED raids almost a dozen locations in Bengal, Jharkhand in unlawful land grabbing case

NEW DELHI: Officials of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday carried out searches at almost one dozen places in West Bengal and Jharkhand in a cash laundering case towards these illegally occupying Indian Army lands, sources mentioned.

As per sources, the raids are occurring at almost 4 locations in West Bengal and eight in Jharkhand.  The locations searched included residential and workplace premises of a Kolkata-based businessman Amit Agrawal and several other others, sources mentioned.

As per sources, Agrawal was earlier arrested by the Enforcement Directorate, and the raids had been deliberate after his revelation within the case.

It is learnt that a number of acres of Army land in Jharkhand had been illegally occupied in connivance with ‘land mafias’ and politicians.

The Enforcement Directorate final month arrested Amit Agrawal in reference to a cash laundering case. ED officers arrested Amit Agrawal within the reference to a seizure of Rs 50 lakh from an advocate Rajiv Kumar in Kolkata on July 31.
