Dalit Student thrashed by faculty principal for ingesting water from bottle in UP

BIJNOR:  A Class 11 scholar was allegedly crushed up by his faculty principal after he drank water from a bottle stored on a desk, a police official mentioned on Monday.

According to the grievance lodged by the Dalit scholar, the alleged incident occurred in the course of the farewell ceremony of Class 12 college students on Sunday, Additional Superintendent of Police Ram Arj mentioned.

The scholar drank water from a bottle stored on a desk, following which the principal Yogendra Kumar and his brothers allegedly thrashed and hurled abuses at him, Arj mentioned.

A case has been registered towards seven individuals, together with the principal, underneath the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the matter is being probed by a circle officer, he mentioned.
