Cyclone Biparjoy; No casualties however heavy harm to energy infra

AHMEDABAD: Cyclone Biparjoy that struck Gujarat on Thursday evening unleashed a path of destruction in coastal districts because it uprooted hundreds of timber and electrical poles, broken homes and roads, and prompted flooding in a number of coastal villages. 

Nearly 4,600 villages have been left with out energy because the cyclone broken scores of transformers and toppled as many as 5,120 electrical poles. Personnel from the electrical energy division on Friday managed to revive energy in 3,580 villages, state Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey mentioned. 

He mentioned there have been no casualties as a result of cyclone however it prompted intensive monetary loss to the state.
