The Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two folks, who posed as jailed gangster Neeraj Bawania over the cellphone, for making an attempt to extort Rs 50 lakh from a businessman within the nationwide capital. The two accused, recognized as Mohammad Moin and Adil, have been arrested in reference to the case.

According to the crime department, Moin made extortion calls and recognized himself as gangster Neeraj Bawania whereas his confederate Adil had a difficulty with the complainant and he wished to show the businessman a lesson.

The businessman lodged a grievance alleging that he was being threatened over the cellphone by the accused who have been demanding Rs 50 lakh from him.

A case has been registered in opposition to the accused below sections 387 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.

Based on a tip-off and technical surveillance, a lure was laid to arrest the accused.
