Convict at Meerut jail cites Covid, refuses parole

Citing the pandemic, a convicted prisoner on the Chaudhary Charan Singh District Prison in Meerut has refused the particular parole granted to him, saying he felt safer incarcerated than being launched and threat catching the virus.
The Supreme Court had directed the state authorities to decongest district prisons in view of the pandemic. The Meerut prisoner is amongst 21 convicts throughout 9 jails in Uttar Pradesh who’ve requested that they not take up the particular parole and stay incarcerated, officers mentioned.
